Amarnath FAQ

The Amarnath Yatra is an annual religious pilgrimage to the holy Amarnath Cave, which is situated at a height of 3,888 meters (12,756 ft) in the Himalayan ranges of Jammu & Kashmir. This pilgrimage is undertaken to seek the blessings of the ice lingam of Lord Shiva, which changes size with each lunar cycle, just like the full and vacant phases of the moon. The Yatra takes place in the summer season of July and August every year. The trekking distance from Pahalgam is estimated to be 42 to 48 kilometers (4 to 5 days), whereas from the route of Baltal, the trekking distance is 14 kilometers (1 to 2 days). The Yatra also provides a helicopter facility to those devotees who want tolenege a smaller distance.

WE CATER TO VARIOUS NEEDS:

Traditional Trek Package (Pahalgam Route): This will comprise accommodation in organized camps, meals, and ponies/palkis (if required).

Short Trek Package, taking the route via Baltal: This trekking package takes a

Helicopter-Assisted Package: It involves traveling in a helicopter from Srinagar to Baltal, then to Panjtarni, and requires very little trekking.

Deluxe Spiritual Retreat Package: Offers luxury tented accommodation, special darshan assistance (where applicable), support for wellness activities, as well as an extended stay in Kashmir.

Normally provided: Accommodation at approved/luxury camps (twin sharing), all veg. meals, assistance for trekking permits & registrations, services of experienced guides & trekking leaders, basic first aid and oxygen facilities, booking for ponies/palki, and transportation services from Srinagar to Base Camp. Not Included: Tickets by Helicopter, personal expenses on Ponies/Palki, insurance, & personal expenses.

The safety of you and your loved ones is our greatest concern. Below are our guidelines:

The Yatra is quite challenging. The persons undertaking the Yatra must be physically fit and able to walk 8 to 10 km daily in the mountains. We advise them to start their fitness program at least 2-3 months in advance. A mandatory health certificate from authorized doctors must be obtained for the purpose of enrollment.

We provide a comprehensive, suggested packing list. Essentials include:
Clothing: Layered woolens, water-proof jacket, thermals, trekking pant, hats, gloves.
Footwear: Sturdy, waterproof, and broken-in trekking boots with extra socks.
Equipment: Trekking pole, headlamp, small rucksack, sunglasses – UV protection.
Personal: Medications, energy-boosting snacks, water bottle, sunscreen (SPF 50+), personal toiletries.
Documents to be carried along: Original ID, Yatra permit, medical certificate, insurance copy.

Accommodation in clean and heated tents with sleeping bags/ mattresses at designated camps along the route. The Deluxe packages feature premium tents with attached toilets. Vegetarian (Satvik), nutritious, and freshly prepared meals will be provided at hygienically set dining areas at all the camps.

Pahalgam trek:Ascent is gradual and long. This helps in better acclimatization and is less steep. Also, it is abundantly scenic. First-time trekkers and pilgrims would find this route ideal for the holy yatra.

Baltal Route: This one is shorter, steeper, and more arduous. This route is suited for “Very fit Persons Only” or for the “time

Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) is a real risk. We mitigate it by:
Designing itineraries with proper acclimatization stops.
Educating pilgrims on early symptoms (headache, nausea, dizziness).
Carrying portable oxygen cylinders and medication.
Having a clear emergency evacuation plan in place.

Given the limited annual window and high demand, we require a non-refundable deposit to confirm. Final payment is due 60 days prior to departure. Due to the nature of the pilgrimage and external factors (weather, security), we strongly recommend “Cancel For Any Reason” travel insurance. Detailed policy terms are provided at booking.
