Kumbh Mela FAQ

Kumbh Mela is the largest peaceful assembly of humans in the name of religion; it’s a holy Hindu pilgrimage that takes place at only four places: Prayagraj (where the Ganges, Yamuna, & mythological Saraswati Rivers meet), Haridwar (at the holy Ganges), Nashik (at the mythological Godavari River), and Ujjain (at the Shipra River). It’s a very holy occasion when people come in large numbers in search of salvation through a dip in the sacred water. “Divine Path Travels” provides packages that help turn this sacred experience into a safe one.

The Kumbh Mela festival to look forward to is: Prayagraj Kumbh Mela, that takes place in 2025. Dates: These are calculated according to the Hindu lunar calendar and shall then be finalized. If you would like to receive updates, it is advised to join our alert list.

Our primary concern is safety. Our camps are situated at an organized, less-populous site with 24/7 security. Our services include:
Medical staff, first aid at the camp.
Strict hygiene standards for food, water, and lodging.
Small, controlled groups, with known guides.
Emergency protocols and communication systems.

A complete list is sent out with booking. The essentials are:
Casual, modest clothing that covers shoulders and knees.
A small bag for river bathing materials (rags and change of clothes).
Sturdy, slip-on shoes
Personal meds, sunscreen, hat, flashlight.
Personal water bottle (we supply safe drinking water).
Copies of important documents (passport, visa, insurance).

We would advise that one should reach the place at least a day prior to the principal bathing date (Shahi Snan), in order to acclimatize. People normally come for 3-7 nights, and it allows them to take part in various dates of bathing and procession, and the special holy environment that surrounds this place.

Yes. Kumbh Mela is a religious event that has universal appeal. Everyone\-\-including people of different religions\-\-can come and participate in this event. Our guides are educated to brief our customers about the religious significance of the event.

Due to high demand and limited infrastructure, we need a non-refundable deposit to secure your booking and require full payment 90 days prior to the event. We highly recommend comprehensive travel insurance. Specific policy details will be contained in your booking contract.

A journey to the Kumbh is more than a trip; it’s a pilgrimage. To that end, we offer some pre-journey resources, suggested readings and optional online satsangs to support setting an intention (Sankalpa) and approaching the experience with an open heart and mind.
